The Important Of A Security Baby Blanket

A Baby Blanket: Security and Growth Rolled into OneThe life of a baby is not all fun and games. It can be a very scary place to those little eyes. The world is a big unknown noisy place in the eyes of a baby. Everywhere they look a new item will come into view that may startle and scare them. This is why so many babies find items that they feel secure with to get them through this learning curve. The obvious show of the need for security is a baby cuddling up against mom or dad when they are frightened. There are many more security items. The most well know is the baby blanket. The image of a baby clutching onto his blanket is one many people associate with. The use of a blanket as a means of security is a great way to give a baby more confidence.
A baby blanket can be the extra support that a baby needs to be able to grow and learn in their new surroundings. A blanket is soft and tender and will cushion any fears the baby may have. The smells of this piece of security can remind the child of loved ones that can not be near and help them to know that they are loved and protected from the evils they see out there. A small piece of cloth can be much more then a way to stay warm to young child. It can be the beginning of independence from mom and dad and learning to explore on their own.
Many babies choose a favorite blanket. Sometimes this choice is made by what type of fabric it is made from; other times it is just what color or character is on it. The choices may seem arbitrary to parents, but to a baby this is their first show if individualism. A child chooses what gives them security with their unique personality. A baby blanket that is chosen for security is a window into this growing personality. A child that shows that they can make decisions and stand by them in the choice of a security blanket is one that is on his way to be a strong and independent adult.
As a child grows their favorite baby blanket will take on new roles in their lives. One day it will be used as a cape in a game of make believe. The fabric may wrap a favorite doll or toy. This simple creation of yarn will continue to give security and further the child’s growth long after he has grown out of diapers. Long after childhood has faded the worn piece of blanket will resurface and leave the independent adult with a smile and a feeling of security of a time gone by. The world is his for the taking with his baby blanket by his side.

Mink Blankets - 5 Things You Don't Know About These Luxurious Blankets

Mink blankets are not made from the fur of the mink animal. The mink that is used for blankets and other items is an acrylic fabric, totally man made. The idea of calling the product mink is the same as the thinking behind the fleece blanket, which has little to do with a sheep or any other animal for that matter. The words are marketing terms to conjuror up vivid images in our minds of comfort, warmth and luxury. Even so, mink blankets are noted for being extremely soft, warm and dense.
Genuine Korean mink blankets are made in South Korea, the name is not another marketing ploy. The idea and production of the mink fabric was started in China and Korea and the name has stuck. The fabric is acrylic, man-made and has no animal products in it.
Mink blankets are noted for their imaginative motifs and colourful designs. Popular motifs include animals, such as Tigers, Lions and Wolves. A wide variety of themes are available however and you will find that the blanket can set the ambience of your bedroom. The theme of your bedroom can be set and centered around the motif on the blanket. The blanket can help to create the atmosphere in the room.
Mink blankets are very easy to care for. Unlike natural fibers, Mink blankets are machine-washable provided the wash cycle is gentle. Hanging on a line will dry them. The blankets can be ironed if needed but care must be taken as the fabric can react badly to strong heat. Using a protective cloth that dampens the heat is the best way to approach ironing.
There is a differing grade of quality of mink fabric. Like most goods, there are two ways to differentiate between the grades: the feel and the price of the blanket. As price is a hard thing to judge value with, it is best to feel the fabric in your hands. The softness and weight of the blanket should give you an indication of the quality of the blanket.
Mink blankets are the imaginative second cousin of the more traditional wool and cotton blankets. For someone looking for a unique style in their bedroom, mink blankets are worth investigating.

Cozy Your Baby In These 10 Soft Blanket Fabrics

A soft, warm blanket is a must for every infant. Always among the most popular baby gifts, blankets give new mothers something cuddly to wrap her baby in. Blankets are available in and unending number of designs, colors, and styles, and can be had with plush lining and trim. They are also available in many types of fabrics, which is the subject of this article. Here's a listing of the ten most popular baby blanket fabrics and what you can expect to spend on them.
Cotton
Cotton is the most well known fabric in existence today. It can be washed by machine and is extremely versatile - it can be woven, knitted, and dye any color you can imagine. Generally priced in the $10-$40 range, it can become more expensive with an elaborate design. The packaging may also influence the price.
Flannel
A light- or medium-weight cloth, flannel can be made in several ways, primarily a blend of wool and cotton or wool and a synthetic fiber. These blankets are generally available in the same price range as cotton, $10-$40.
Chenille
Usually made from cotton, this fabric can be distinguished by its manufacturing process. First the fibers are spun into a tightly wound core, then piles (short lengths of fabric) are wrapped around so its edges stand at right angles from the core. This gives chenille its characteristic look and makes it feel so soft. A blanket made from chenille is a little more costly than one made from cotton or flannel, ranging from $25 to $60 in cost.
Fleece
I bet you think you know what this is made from, but you're wrong. You're confusing this with the wool of sheep. As used in a fleece baby blanket, the term describes a polyester fabric. There's no wool in a fleece baby blanket! Prices can range from $10 all the way to $70.
Satin
Once very expensive because it was made from silk, satin is currently produced from nylon, rayon, acetate, and polyester. This provides a much more affordable way to attain the glossy finish the fabric is known for. Although still costing $50 or more, satin baby blankets are much less expensive today than they were when they were made from silk.
Alpaca
The original source for alpaca wool is the Peruvian alpaca, but the term now refers to a more generic style of fabric. It can be made from Icelandic sheep wool, high-quality English wool, or mohair, and is available in a wide price range. Expect to pay a minimum of $30 but the cost could go above $120.
Cashmere
Obtained from the cashmere goat, this wool is renowned for its legendary softness. One of the more expensive fabrics to choose for a baby blanket, expect to pay from $80 to more than $200 for a cashmere blanket.
Merino
Merino is a less expensive alternative to cashmere. Originating in Spain, it comes from a breed of white fine-wooled sheep that produce an exceptional quality of fleece. It looks and feels very similar to cashmere, but baby blankets made from merino will cost significantly less - about $30 to $120.
Velvet
Considered a luxury fabric because it requires multiple steps to manufacture and more thread per square inch than other fabrics, velvet can be made from many fibers, including cotton, silk, and synthetics. Prices for velvet baby blankets range from $40 to more than $150.
Charmeuse Silk
Charmeuse silk is the most expensive fabric used to make baby blankets. Shiny and very smooth, a blanket made from the "silk of the emperors" will make a great impression on the new parents and show just how much they and the baby mean to you. With a beautiful drape and an elegant luster, a blanket made from charmeuse silk will cost about $300. Maybe not the most practical fabric to catch baby's messes, but it'll definitely feel nice.

What To Consider When Choosing A Baby Blanket?

As most of mothers seem to only focus on what their baby need, especially they focus on finding information about what is the best nursery for the baby, which sometimes mothers are overwhelmed by all the different choices. Mothers also spend most of their time to selecting good quality brand of accessories for their baby such as creepers, booties and hats that we tend to loose focus on baby blankets. Some people may not know that baby blanket is one of the most important item in a nursery or even at home. Knowing what to consider when choosing a baby blanket comes about through a mixture of research and experience. As it has been taken into account that you have to buy baby blanket, which made from entirely from natural fabric, which much easier to breath, allowing air to circulate and help to prevent the infant from overheating.
When buying baby blanket, you have to avoid buying ones that knitted or crocheted baby blankets that are loosely woven, because when using the baby’s finger may be able to go through the small hole and get stuck. You may also avoid to buy a blanket that has excessive fringe and decorations that can unravel or detach and thereby pose a choking hazard, especially to a small infant. For some babies who old enough to be able to carry their favourite blanket to everywhere and this may cause you have to wash it very often. Frequent washings and use may cause a blanket with a pattern or bright color to fade a lot. It is recommended that when purchasing a baby blanket you plan on using frequently that you buy at least two so that when one favourite blanket wears out or it gets lost you have a back up one to substitute.
There are many style and categories of baby blanket available, with the most popular for newborns being receiving blankets. However, some people (mothers) may still believe that swaddling baby in a blanket was essential to developing good posture, which this believes is in fact is the old practice that dates back to ancient roman times. But today this believe was a lot developed and completely changed, mother swaddled baby only during the time when baby newly born, because swaddling mimics the snug security of the womb which in turn settles and soothes the newborn. However, there are good things of swaddling. It also helps the baby to sleep longer because blanket can protect or soften any of vibration, which may cause to a newborn repeatedly throughout the night.
However, when your baby getting older, the ordinary baby blanket come into the car, or even completely change format to be a stroller. Baby blankets can be thick warm fleece for cool days or soft thin cotton for warmer ones.
As mentioned above that baby blanket may be easily overlooked, but you have to consider the time that your baby have to spend with their favourite blanket and parents must start to see importance of how to choose blanket for your baby before it’s too late.
